During 6 - 8 December 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy opened a book of condolence in honour of Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, former Thai Foreign Minister and ASEAN Secretary-General. On 7 December 2017, Shaikh Fadilah Shaikh Ahmad, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam signed the condolence book as a representative of the Brunei Government. Also present to sign the condolence book were Head of Missions and representatives of ASEAN member countries, Bangladesh, China, Germany, India, Japan, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Timor-Leste, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America.
