On 5 October  2017, the Royal Thai Embassy hosted a Reception on the Occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand at Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Hotel and Country Club.  At the reception, H.E. Biravij Suwanpradhes, delivered a welcoming speech in honor of the Late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and elaborated on Thailand's positive economic and political projections as well as its excellent bilateral relations with Brunei Darussalam. Present as the guest of honor was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs of Brunei Darussalam.
